CLASS –IX |
SUBJECT- MATHEMATICS |
CHAPTER
6 : Lines and Angles |
TOPIC:-
Chapter:- 6 : Lines and angles
DURATION:-
This lesson is divided into
seven modules and it is completed in thirteen class meetings.
PRE- REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE:-
Knowledge of different
types of angles with their figures.
TEACHING AIDS:-
Green Board, Chalk, Duster, Charts, smart board, projector and
laptop etc.
METHODOLOGY:-
Demonstration and
Lecture method
OBJECTIVES:-
- (Motivate) If a ray stands on a line, then the sum of the two adjacent angles so formed is 180o and the converse.
- (Prove) If two lines intersect , vertically opposite angles are equal.
- (Motivate) When two parallel lines are intersected by a transversal then prove that corresponding angles are equal, alternate angles are equal, alternate angles are equal, and interior angles on the same side of the transversal are supplementary.
- (Motivate) Lines which are parallel to a given line are parallel to each other.
- (Prove) Prove that the sum of three angles of a triangle is 180o.
- (Motivate) If the side of a triangle is produced, the exterior angle so formed is equal to the sum of two interior opposite angles.
PROCEDURE :-
Teacher will ask the
class about the meaning of word ‘Lines and angles’ and different types of
angles. After getting the different answers from the class, Teacher himself
explains these meanings , definition and explanations step by step as follows.
S. No |
|
1 |
Here teacher will introduce the topic by giving some examples of different types of angles like acute angle, right angle, obtuse angle, straight angle, reflex angle and complete angle with their geometrical meaning. Breadth less length is called a line. If a line has two end points then it is called a line segment. Collinear points: Three of more points lie on a straight line are called collinear points.
|
2 |
An angle is formed when two rays originate from the same endpoint. The rays making an angle are called the arms of the angle and the end point is called the vertex of the angle. Now explain different types of angles, complete topic is given in the explanation. |
3 |
If sum of two adjacent angles is equal to 180o. Then the angles make a linear pair of angles. Here in the figure ∠a + ∠b = 180o. |
4 |
|
5 |
Two lines which do not intersect each other are called parallel lines. If lines are not parallel then the lines are called intersecting lines.
|
6 |
Any line which intersect two or more parallel lines is called a transversal. When a pair of parallel lines are intersected by a transversal then: i.) Pair of corresponding angles are equal. ii) Pair of alternate interior angles are equal. iii) Pair of alternate exterior angles are equal. iv) Co- interior angles are supplementary. |
7 |
In this figure PQ║AB and RS║AB ⇒ PQ║RS
|
8 |
Also motivate the students for the topic: If sides of a triangle are extended then exterior angle of triangle is equal to the sum of interior opposite angles.
|
EXPECTED OUTCOMES:-
After studying this
lesson students will be able to
understand
- the different types of angles with their diagrams,
- linear pair of angles, supplementary angles, complementary angles, adjacent angles.
- different types of lines,
- concept of parallel lines and transversal,
- properties of triangles with proof.
STUDENTS DELIVERABLES:-
Review questions assigned by the teacher. Solve
NCERT problems with examples and with important theorems along with some
questions from the refreshers.
EXTENDED LEARNING:-
Students can extend their learning by studying basic concepts and formulas of mathematics through the Resource Centre Mathematics and can find interesting topics on mathematics at the site https://www.cbsemathematics.com/
ASSESSMENT TECHNIQUES:-
At the end of the lesson a Class Test will be taken.
Re-test(s) will be conducted on the basis of the performance of the students in the test.
Worksheets on MCQ and assignments should be given to the students.
Arrangement should be made for the oral test or quiz competitions.
