How to solve a 3 x 3 Rubik's Cube  A Rubik’s Cube is a popular 3D combination puzzle invented in 1974 by ErnÅ‘ Rubik . It is made of small colored squares arranged on a cube. The most common version is the 3 × 3 × 3 cube , which has six colored sides. How it works Each side has 9 squares of the same color when solved. The rows and columns can be twisted and turned. The goal is to mix the colors and then return every side to a single color. Chapter - 03  COORDINATE GEOMETRY

Activity - 05

Objective: 

To find the values of abscissae and ordinates of various points given in a cartesian plane.

Material Required

Cardboard, white paper, graph paper with various given points, geometry box, pen/pencil.

Procedure

1.   Take a cardboard of a convenient size and paste a white paper on it.

2.   Paste the given graph paper alongwith various points drawn on it [see Fig. 1].

3. Look at the graph paper and the points whose abcissae and ordinates are to       be found.

4. To find abscissa and ordinate of a point, say E, draw perpendiculars EH and EP from E to x-axis and y-axis, respectively. 
5. Then abscissa of E is OH and ordinate of E is OP. Here, OH = PE = 2 and EH = OP = 4. The point E is in first quadrant. Coordinates of E are (2, 4).

Observations

Find the coordinate of all the points given in the above figure in the first and second quadrant above the x-axis.
